Tournament plan for 10 players

If the player count isn't a power of two (4, 8, 16, 32 …), the field is padded and the surplus slots become byes. The generator distributes them using the standard seeding method: the players entered first receive the byes and start directly in round 2.

Knockout is fast and dramatic (every match is an elimination match) — ideal for pub tournaments and big fields. Round robin is fairer because everyone plays the same number of games — ideal for small groups up to ~8 players or league nights. In a real SmartDart tournament you can also combine both (group stage + knockout).
