10 Difficulty Levels — From Rookie to Champion
The bot throws realistically simulated 3-dart turns with its own checkout behaviour. The higher the level, the tighter the spread and the higher the target average.
Starter
Target average ~15. For the very first throws and for kids — he almost never hits a double (about 2%).
Rookie
Target average ~20. A very relaxed opponent to get started — he rarely hits doubles (about 3%).
Casual
Target average ~25. Throws without a plan, sometimes big, sometimes wide (about 5% of doubles).
Pub
Target average ~30. The after-work opponent: hits the big fields without challenging you (about 7%).
Regular
Target average ~35. Keeps up as long as doubles are not needed (about 9%).
Hobby
Target average ~40. Solid casual level, the doubles land now and then (about 11%).
Improver
Target average ~45. Hits the trebles more often and checks out once in a while (about 14%).
Club
Target average ~50. Club level with a decent double rate (about 16%).
Club Ace
Target average ~55. Steady and with a plan: hard to beat unless you finish cleanly (about 19%).
League
Target average ~60. A serious league opponent (about 22%).
Regional
Target average ~65. Pushes the pace and checks out reliably (about 24%).
Top League
Target average ~70. Demanding: hardly any slips, missed chances get punished (about 28%).
National
Target average ~75. High amateur level, the double rate is around 30%.
Elite
Target average ~80. Plays like a representative player: a leg takes about 19 darts on average.
Pro
Target average ~85. Pro level: strong checkouts, about 36% of doubles land.
Contender
Target average ~90. Just below tour level, a leg takes only about 17 darts on average.
Tour Pro
Target average ~95. Tour level: doubles land in over 40% of attempts.

Target average ~100. Almost flawless — nearly every second double lands.
World Class

Can I play against the computer on SmartDart?
Yes. In Quick Match you choose the AI bot as your opponent instead of a second player. The bot automatically throws realistically simulated 3-dart turns while you enter your own throws. So you can play 501 or 301 against the computer any time — even when no opponent is around.
How many difficulty levels does the bot have?
Twenty, from level 1 (Starter, ~15 average) to level 20 (Champion, ~110) in steps of 5: for example Pub (~30), Hobby (~40), Club (~50), League (~60), Regional (~65), National (~75), Pro (~85), Tour Pro (~95) and Champion (~110). The higher the level, the tighter the throw spread and the higher the target average. From level 15 the bot plays at pro level.
Is playing against the computer free?
Yes, fully and unlimited. There's no "3 matches then subscribe" limit like in some scoring apps. You need neither an account nor payment details, and there are no ads.
Do I have to download an app?
No. SmartDart runs entirely in the browser — on phone, tablet and PC. No app store, no install, no updates. Just open the page and play the bot.
How strong is the computer opponent?
It depends on the level. Rookie sits around 20 average, Champion around 105 — far above pro level. The bot doesn't hit numbers mechanically; it simulates real throw spread on the board, including its own checkout behaviour.
Is it good for practice?
Yes. Play a level just above yours and use the checkout suggestions from remainder 170 to train your finishing. After each match you see average, checkout rate and 180s — so you can measure your progress. For pure checkout practice there's also the dedicated training mode.
Do I need an account to play the bot?
No. You can play the computer instantly without signing up. A free account only pays off if you want to save your matches and stats across devices.
Does it work on a phone too?
