At a glance
The essentials about a darts club tournament in four sentences.
SmartDart automatically builds the fixtures and bracket for a darts club tournament — group stage with draw, knockout round and projector view included.
Club members can be saved as a reusable player pool, so every seasonal club championship is set up in seconds.
Small club tournaments up to 10 players run free forever on the BASIC plan; larger fields up to 20 players, double elimination and Swiss system are available from PRO at €4.99/month.
Everything runs in the browser with no installation — players score on their own phone, the projector shows the live standings.

Common questions about club tournaments
Is SmartDart free for clubs?
Single club tournaments (up to 10 participants, groups + knockout, knockout or round-robin) run permanently free on Basic. For club championships with up to 20 players and more formats we recommend PRO (€4.99/month), for unlimited PREMIUM (€9.99/month). The persistent darts club with a member pool is a PRO feature (up to 9 members per club; from 10 PREMIUM).
Which format fits a classic club tournament?
Groups + knockout. Participants are split into groups (typically 4-player groups), everyone plays everyone in their group, top-2 per group advance to the knockout. Semis, final, bronze match — a tried-and-tested format for club championships.
How many participants are ideal?
8, 16, 24 or 32 players work best — clean group stages and symmetric knockout brackets. SmartDart also supports odd player counts, in that case with byes.
Do I have to enter members every year?
No — Saved Players stores all once-registered members. At the next season pick them in the wizard, in under 30 seconds the participant pool is ready.
How long does a 16-player tournament take?
With 2 boards and best-of-3 legs: group stage roughly 1.5 hours, knockout stage roughly 1 hour. With 4 boards the time halves. SmartDart automatically ensures no player is scheduled on two boards at the same time.
Can we celebrate the champion on the big screen?
Yes — the celebration overlay shows the club champion with confetti and stats summary. There's also a shared result page (/results/CODE) you can post in the club's WhatsApp group.
What do I need for the projection?
A laptop (or tablet) with HDMI to the projector, a browser tab on smartdart.app/projection after tournament start. The layout is optimised for large screens, no colour calibration needed.
What devices do I need?
1× admin device (laptop/tablet) for overview, 1× projector device for display, N× player phones for scoring. Alternatively one tablet per board passed around between players.
Do I still need an Excel template for our club tournament?
No. Classic club tournament Excel templates with group tables, knockout brackets and manual draws are obsolete: draw, group calculation, knockout tree and live table all run automatically. No formulas, no version e-mails, no typos in member names.
How do I create a tournament schedule for a club tournament?
In the wizard: pick the format (typically groups + knockout for a club championship), pick members from your saved players, set group size and best-of-legs. Hit start — the full fixture list including draw, match order and bronze final is ready in 30 seconds.
How are the fixtures generated for a club tournament?
For groups + knockout, participants are randomly placed in groups, usually of 3 to 5 (or seeded manually), up to 16 groups. Within each group everyone plays everyone, the top N advance to the knockout. With multiple boards SmartDart distributes matches so no player is scheduled twice at the same time.
What else SmartDart can do
