How the league fixtures for 8 teams work
8 teams play 7 matchdays in each half of the season — 14 matchdays and 56 fixtures in total. The second half repeats the first-half pairings in the same order, with home and away swapped.

Common questions about league fixtures
How many matchdays does a league with N teams need?
With an even number of teams, every team plays every other team once over N−1 matchdays: 8 teams need 7 matchdays per half, so 14 with home and away. With an odd number you need N matchdays per half, because one team has a bye each matchday — 7 teams also play 7 matchdays per half. Each half has N×(N−1)/2 fixtures.
What do we do with an odd number of teams?
Nothing special: the generator gives one team a bye on every matchday. Over each half of the season every team has exactly one bye, so the load stays equal for everyone. The fixture list shows which team has the bye on each matchday.
How do home and away fixtures work?
The second half repeats the first-half pairings in the same order — only home and away are swapped. That way every team plays every opponent once at home and once away. If you only meet each opponent once, for example in a short winter league, switch to “Single round”.
How do I keep the league table?
Below the fixtures there is a blank league table with every team: played, won, drawn, lost, legs for and against, difference and points — fill it in using your league’s rules. If you would rather not keep it by hand: SmartDart’s league format (part of Premium) creates the same fixtures and works out the table automatically after every result. Players join free.
