SmartDartDart camera scoring: score darts with your phone camera
Put a phone, tablet or laptop under the board and SmartDart spots your darts and enters the score. Auto scoring without extra hardware, right in the browser.
Open beta · free account needed · Quick Match vs the bot or head to headWhat is camera scoring?
With camera scoring nobody types in scores: the camera watches the board, SmartDart works out where the darts landed and adds up the throw. You can score darts with a phone camera, using the camera you already own: phone, tablet or laptop.
It is an open beta, switched on for every signed-in account. It runs in Quick Match, against the bot or head to head on the same board.
Automatic dart scoring in 3 steps
Put the camera under the board
Place your phone, tablet or laptop so the whole board is in the picture. A stand or a pile of books is enough.
Log in with a free account
Camera scoring is switched on for signed-in accounts. The account is free. Guests see a log-in prompt there.
Start a Quick Match
Open Quick Match, choose camera and play. The camera opens after the start, and detection runs on your device.
What camera scoring can do and what it cannot yet
To be honest: this is a beta. It can get things wrong, which is why you can correct it.
This works
Quick Match against the bot with camera scoring
Quick Match head to head on the same board, the camera scores for both
Tap a dart to correct it when the detection is off
Phone, tablet or laptop camera, no extra hardware
Not (yet)
Beta: sometimes you will need to correct a dart
Quick Match only, not in tournaments
Needs a clearly visible board in the camera picture
Privacy in short
Dart detection runs on your device, in the browser. Without your consent, camera images do not leave the device.
Sharing pictures of your board to train the detection is your free choice. The camera works the same without it.
Shared pictures are stored without any link to your account and without a name. Please keep people out of the picture.
Auto scoring without extra hardware: how it differs from hardware systems
Systems such as Scolia or Autodarts are built for permanently set-up boards and need their own cameras or extra hardware at the board. That is a good solution if you want a fixed setup.
SmartDart takes the other route: you use the camera you already have and you are ready in a few minutes. In return, the detection is an open beta and not as mature as a fixed installation, and you will occasionally correct a dart yourself.
Dart camera scoring: frequently asked questions
Do I need extra hardware for camera scoring?
No. You only need a device with a camera and a browser, such as a phone, tablet or laptop, plus a dartboard. No dedicated cameras, sensors or mounts are required.
What does camera scoring cost?
During the open beta it is switched on for every signed-in account. The account is free.
How reliably does the camera detect my darts?
Camera scoring is a beta. The detection can be wrong, for example when the board is hard to see. Then you tap the dart and correct it. We deliberately do not quote an accuracy figure.
Can I use camera scoring in tournaments?
For now only in Quick Match, against the bot or head to head on the same board. Tournaments and leagues are still scored by hand.
What happens to my camera pictures?
Detection runs on your device. Without your consent, camera pictures are not sent to us and not stored. If you choose to consent, we receive still pictures of the board, with no link to your account, to train the detection.
What if the camera misreads a dart?
Tap the dart and correct the field. The score that is booked is then your corrected value.
What else SmartDart can do
